Dave's Killer Bread

If you haven't tried the utterly delicious and uber-famous Dave's Killer Bread from Portland, Oregon, then this is your chance. Dave has again shared one of his amazing recipes with us for Everyday Dish, and this time it's for a 100% whole wheat bread that's out-of-this-world delicious! We're talking soft, tender, nutty, slightly sweet bread that is just as awesome on a sandwich as it is toasted and slathered with a little Earth Balance. Please, please give this recipe a try! This is whole grain bread at it's finest.

On a different note, I have been having some computer problems this past week, so I haven't been able to blog as much as I had hoped to. It's actually giving me more time in the kitchen (imagine that?!) to finish up the marshmallow recipes, which I am happy to say are just about complete. Whew! A couple more recipes to test, a quick how-to-video to film and we are ready to go! Here's hoping for a speedy computer recovery!

I LOVE Dave's Killer Bread! But the recipe link on Everyday Dish isn't working for me...I get a page not found message (although the video appears to be fine). Must! Have! Recipe!

I'm so excited to try it, can you tell? :D

Hi Chessa!

Thanks for the heads-up on the link. Hopefully we'll have it fixed by tomorrow. I promise that the recipe will be up soon!

I'm probably more excited for the marshmallow recipes than is healthy.

But this bread sounds exciting too - I love and buy Dave's Killer Bread often, but have only had less than stellar experiences making whole grain bread myself. For sure I will check this out, and with any luck save some money on store loaves.

I can relate to the computer problems. My hard drive failed and I lost everything. Here's to wishing your recovery goes well.

That bread looks like delicious sandwich bread. Mmmm! Can't wait to try it.

The first Dave's Killer Bread video/recipe was....well, killer. I can only imagine this one is just as good.
Saw the post below for Whoopie Pies. I haven't heard of those since I was a kid. Time to make some for nostalgia I say.

I made this bread this week and it is amazing!! It is the first time I have made a 100% whole wheat bread and it hasn't come out like a brick! Great for sandwiches, the kids loved it, I can say enough about this bread. My only problem was that I used a smaller Kitchen Aid and there was so much dough and it was so heavy that it fell off the counter and onto the floor. YIKES! So watch it during the kneading if you have the same machine!

I am getting ready to demonstrate this bread to the ladies at church. Dave says you can let it rise longer before baking for a lighter loaf. Have you done this and if so how much longer did you let it rise? I like the denser loaf, but thought I would try two different ways for the ladies. Oh, I am not doing the demonstration until Sept 2, but thought I would give it a try before D-day. I will also be giving the ladies the Everyday dish site so they can try some of your many goodies. :o)

Hey veg-a-nut, I've made 100% WW bread before and they're always pretty dense so I'm wondering about what Dave said about leaving them longer too! I want bread you can actually fold and they don't break. That would be cool.
