Vegan Donuts!

After several tries, I finally got it! The yeasted donuts came out perfect, and exactly how I envisioned them. A soft, tender and slightly sweet interior that melts in your mouth. I made 3 different kinds, cinnamon sugar, vanilla glazed and maple. Unbelievable! I knew that I couldn't let you guys down, and that if I worked hard enough on the formula, I could get a vegan donut that's better than the original. It's killing me to keep the recipe under wraps for the book.

I can share some pics with you though, with the cinnamon sugar babies on top and some of the glazed below.

There's also some yummy new recipes & videos up on Everyday Dish. Check out the Rosemary Garlic Crackers, Coconut Whipped Cream and homemade bath salts.

Those look good, but I can't imagine them actually being healthy. Especially if they have yeast in them.

Hi Shelby. The recipe will definitely be in the new book. It's so hard for me not to share it right away!

Hi Trish. Healthy, they're not. But a little donut once in a while is sure a fun treat. Why do you feel that yeast is unhealthy?

I don't suppose that new cookbook will be out before September 27, will it? That is my husband's birthday, he would love these! He was just talking about trying to find vegan donuts.

Those look to die for!

I need to take a step back and take a deep breath! I have been around way to much holier than thou type judgments on foods today.. oy.. yeast is the devil, soy is the devil, if you eat anything that's not organic you will DIE type stuff! OY.. I swear, I could drive myself crazy if I took it all seriously.

Hello... they're DONUTS.. they're not supposed to be healthy. Yeast is probably the healthiest thing IN THEM..

...ok.. sorry for going off in your post here..

I didn't really make up my own mind about yeast, it was more reading about it in the pH miracle by Dr. Young who studies blood samples under and microscope and can see all the microforms wreaking havoc inside people's bodies. Sorry, I guess not all vegans are doing it to be healthy, I guess some are just trying to avoid meat for the environment. I shouldn't have assumed that.
